Key objectives: making lifelong learning and mobility a reality improving the quality and efficiency of education and training promoting equity, social cohesion and active citizenship; and, enhancing creativity and innovation, including entrepreneurship, at all levels of education and training –New Skills for New Jobs - Anticipating and matching labour market and skills needs. Dec 2008 => ICT has an important role to play in the achievement of these objectives

IPTS workshop on ICTs for learning the host country language by adult migrants in the EU Seville 1-2 October 2009 8 Project: ICTs for learning the host country's language by adult migrants in the EU (Oct 2009-Feb 2010) Aim: to provide evidence and understanding of the use of ICTs in guided L2 learning by adult migrants in Europe, its benefits and possibly shortcomings and opportunities for future developments. Coverage: Two countries – the Netherlands and Sweden Research questions for the two selected countries: – Policy framework and the organisational context of L2 education of adult migrants? – ICT applications actually being used? – Drivers and barriers of ICTs use? – Which results are achieved by using ICTs what is their broader impact? – Which use is made of ICTs by the L2 courses' students to engage with life in their host community, before and during the courses? – Which are the opportunities for enhancing the contribution of ICTs? – Which policy measures would be needed?
