R&D+I in the Regional Context The regional strategy in terms of future is fully aligned with the Lisbon Agenda, supporting in particular three main pillars : –Knowledge generation and management ERA + National and Regional R+D+I programmes (2006-2010,…) Education and training –Competitiveness (and sustainability) European Innovation and Competitiveness Space + National and Regional IAPs (2007-2013, 2005-2007,…) Innovative firms (NTBFs + existing firms) Normative and facilitator role (laws, norms and standards, early use, pilot and demonstration activities) –Access to financing and infrastructures

The Regional Vector within the (three) key innovative sectors (drivers) EUTP Objective: To facilitate and accelerate the development and deployment of cost–competitive, world class European products, systems, component technologies and services The Madrid regional added value: accelerate and prepare the change, supporting region based specific world class activities in these domains, targeting synergetic effects/empowerment. Key role of the European networks and projects (since 1989; continuously reinforced since 1997: –RIS/RITTS –EC – ERA, IRE and IRC Networks –EC - PAXIS Network – Spring (Speed-up of Regional Innovation and Economic Growth): NTBFs. European regions of Excellence in Innovation –Projects: Regions of Knowledge, ERA-Star, Blueprints, Interreg-Repartir+, –Galileo Masters Competition. –Region based SMEs Internationalisation.
