Scouts engage in conversations with other Scouts across the country and around the world. They get a glimpse of other cultures and regional differences. Amateur radio, also ham radio, is both a hobby and a service using radio communications equipment to communicate with other amateur operators for public services, recreation, and self-training. It covers many aspects of radio communication from long distance communication, to satellite communication, and communication support to local events and emergencies. What is Amateur Radio? 7
