Why to do Testing & Commissioning for PV Systems?

To measure the Performance of PV systemTo measure the safety of PV system To make sure that PV system is compatible with the utility requirements

IEC 62446 Standard Grid connected photovoltaic systems, Minimum requirements for system documentation, commissioning tests and inspection.

Based on IEC 62446 the following tests shall be carried out :

1 Visual Inspection 2 Tests to all DC circuit(s) forming the PV array 3 Tests to all AC circuit(s)

Visual inspection to the following component PV modules ( compatibility with the data sheet). Inverters (compatibility with the data sheets and grid connection standard). PV mounting structure ( Robustness and fixation). DC cabling and connection (compatibility with the SLD). AC cabling and connection (compatibility with the SLD and Grid connection application).

Tests to all DC circuit(s) forming the PV array, which include the following tests: Earth Rod Resistance (Ω). Earth Continuity for inverters and structures. Insulation resistance of the DC cables. Polarity test. String open circuit voltage test. String short circuit current test.

Tests to all AC circuit(s) AC cabling insulation test. Disconnection &Reconnection time for inverters. The following measurement shall be carried at Point of Common Coupling (PCC): - Voltage magnitude. - Output current. - Power factor. - Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). - Total output power & energy.

Test Results -A testing & commissioning report will be submitted to the utility operator. - After the testing & commissioning the system will be ready to be connected to the grid
