Only enter the Exit Score (Total Team Score) Do not notify the 2 nd Referee until after the wrong server has contacted the ball DO NOT  the service round box if the server fails to serve in the 8 seconds and a loss of rally is issued without contact of the ball DO NOT  the service round box if a Server tosses a ball and lets it drop DO NOT  the service round box if the last point of the game is scored on a side-out. The loss of rally point was point 4 #5 has served and won points 5 & 6. #5 served 3 times but a replay occurred. As the scorekeeper, you have to remember the Play-over. Play-overs are not recorded on the scoresheet.

30. 29 SUBSTITUTIONS Each team gets 12 Team Substitutions There is no limit on the number of individual substitutions Once a player is listed in a service column, they may not substitute in any other service column, unless there is an Exceptional Substitution due to injury More than 2 players may be in the same service column, but those players are locked into that service position (Example on next slide)

35. 34 SANCTION BOX On the bottom left corner of the score sheet is the sanction box. This box is used to record common penalties and wrong servers

37. 36 IMPROPER REQUEST IMPROPER REQUEST - It is improper to request a set interruption: An Improper Request shall be rejected by the first or second Referee The first Improper Request will be issued without a team delay warning or penalty being assessed. Any further interruptions, in the same match will be sanctioned progressively An Improper request shall be recorded on the score sheet and will be in effect for the whole match

38. 37 Types of IMPROPER REQUESTS A Request after the whistle for service Request not by a Captain or Coach Excess Time Out (request for 3 rd time out) Excess Team Sub (request 13 th team sub) Call for 1 sub and send 2 players. (1 st sub is accepted, the 2 nd sub is denied and an Improper Request is given) 2 nd request for a sub on the same dead ball ( A team is granted a sub and then requests another sub) Wrong Position entry. ( Ex: a player subs in position IV and then tries to enter in position III) (Example on next slide)

39. 38 Recording an IMPROPER REQUEST Small Spikers asks for a Time-Out after the 1 st Referee beckons for serve. They are issued an Improper Request. Small Spikers are Team A. It is Set 1 and the score is Small Spikers 6 and Big Blockers 12. Slash the IR. Write A in A/B Team column Write 1 in the Set Column Write the score of 6-12 Always list the score of the team committing the Sanction first. A16 12

40. 39 TEAM DELAY WARNINGS A TEAM DELAY is any action that delays the resumption of the set A Team Delay Warning shall be recorded under the W (Warning) column in the Sanctions Section A Team Delay will be in effect for the entire match

47. 46 Individual Player or Team Staff PENALTIES If a player or team staff is VERBALLY WARNED nothing is written on the score sheet YELLOW CARDIf a player or Team Staff is given a YELLOW CARD it will be recorded in the Sanction Box and results in a loss of rally/ penalty point (The 1 st Referee will hold yellow card in air and identify the player or staff member) Once a player or team staff is issued a penalty sanction, the sanction will be in effect for the whole match (Example on next slide)

48. 47 / Small Spikers I Big Blockers Recording an INDIVIDUAL PENALTY Write the 4 in the Penalty column Write A in A/B Team column Write 1 in the Set Column Write the score of 17-13 Slash & Circle Penalty Pt 14 for the Big Blockers A Yellow Card is always a penalty point in USAV A117 134 Yellow Card Small Spikers # 4 gets a Yellow Card. 49. 48 WRONG SERVER If the Wrong player serves the ball, DO NOT tell the 2 nd Referee until after the ball has been contacted for serve Place a If this is the first serve of the term Do Not Place a  in the Service round box Enter the Exit Score Record the Wrong Server in the Sanction Box Make sure you give the other team a loss of rally point (Example on next slide)

53. 52 Recording a Protested Set in the REMARKS SECTION PROTESTS should be handled at the time of protest, if at all possible. If a protest is upheld, the match will be played over from the point of protest. IF IT IS NOT RESOLVED THE REMARKS SECTION SHOULD CONTAIN: –Score of each team –Team areas –Player serving –Relative position of both teams on the court at the time of the protest –Team and Player substitutions –Libero position –Time-outs –The Referee’s dictation of the protest –Signature of the 1 st Referee, both floor captains and scorekeeper

54. 53 EXCEPTIONAL SUBSTITUTIONS An injured player that can not resume play after 30 seconds and can not be replaced by a legal sub may be replaced by an EXCEPTIONAL SUB. No penalty will be assessed This Exceptional Sub will not be counted as a team substitution The injured player may not return for the rest of the MATCH

55. 54 Order of Replacement for an Injured Player Use a legal sub first A player who has not entered the set, or By the starter or a sub who has played in that position of the rotation If No legal Subs are available use this order for an Exceptional Sub 1.By any substitute on the bench regardless of what position previously played 2.By the Libero (the Libero must change uniform)
