History Founded as Future Homemakers of America in Chicago, 1945 to give men and women a chance to participate in a national student organization that promoted leaders in personal, family, and work environments. 1965 FHA merged with New Homemakers of American 1970 Economics was added to FHA through Home Economic Related Occupations (HERO) 1999 Future Homemakers of America became Family, Career Community Leaders of America, in addition it adopted its new logo and colors

MissionMotto: To promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development creative and critical thinking interpersonal communication practical knowledge career preparation Toward New Horizons

Purpose To provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life. To strengthen the function of the family as the basic unit of society. To encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and community. To encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony. To promote greater understanding between youth and adults. To provide opportunities for making decision and for assuming responsibilities. To provide for the multiple roles of men and women in today's society. To promote family and consumer sciences, family and consumer sciences careers and related occupations.

Other Characteristics The new FCCLA symbol shows the club is dynamics and unity Red symbolizes strength courage and determination White symbolizes sincerity of purpose and integrity of actions FCCLA promoted life skills through competitions, programs, community involvement, and educating members about a variety of topics

To build leadership skills To learn about future career opportunities and experience shadowing opportunities To give back to the community and promote community outreach To allow students to develop life skills such a balancing responsibilities To build supportive relationships To have fun!
