4 Social Studies Mission The mission of MISD Social Studies is to develop opportunities for learning through a rigorous and relevant curriculum that engages students in a 21 st century way through creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking so as to prepare them to do the following as citizens:  Develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good  Become responsible citizens of a culturally diverse and democratic society  Positively interact in an interdependent, global world.
