Why are you here? You are here because you are a leader in your chapter. You have proven yourself worthy and responsible Your chapter is depending upon you to make decisions that will effect our association

What is a delegate and what do they do? A delegate is one of two people from a chapter that has been selected to make decisions on behalf of the chapter You are the voice of your chapter, this job is not to be taken lightly Delegates handle the business of the association, just as members handle the business of your chapter

Why do we need delegates? Delegates are an important part of our association They assure that each chapter has a say in what goes on at the state level The delegate process is the means in which we transact business Delegates set the mood, be excited and the conference participants will be too!

Attendance Role call will be taken Your attendance at all of the above mentioned events is essential If you are not present you CAN NOT vote and if you don’t vote then your chapter’s voice is not being heard

Delegate Candidate Mixer You’re vote is a powerful thing, so it’s important that you are well informed in your decisions The delegate candidate mixer is a great way to meet the candidates How do we start conversations? What are good questions to ask?

Parliamentary Procedure Basics The Purpose: To enable an assembly to transact business with speed and efficiency To protect the rights of the individual To preserve the spirit of harmony within the group

Parliamentary Procedure Basics Four Main Principles: Focus on one item at a time Extend courtesy to everyone Observe the rule of the majority Protect the rights of the minority

Parliamentary Procedure Basics To make a motion: 1.Gain recognition from the Chair State your name and chapter 2.State Motion 3.Motion must be seconded State your name and chapter 4.Debate Motion Gain recognition from the chair Allowed to debate two times 5.Vote Delegates must be present to vote
