27 November Citizenship Theme First Amendment Rights & Responsibilities In the Classroom The Founders of the Constitution considered freedom of expression very important. They believed that the right to have and express one’s beliefs was essential to being a responsible citizen. Students at PLS have the right to express their opinions in respectful and responsible ways in the classroom.

It is a religious celebration that remembers loved ones who have died.

30 November Citizenship Theme First Amendment Rights & Responsibilities In the Classroom Freedom to petition is the right to ask the government to change laws. Ms. Tan shared with the third graders her petition to the city council to be able to have chickens within the Cedar Falls city limit.

31 November Citizenship Theme First Amendment Rights & Responsibilities In the Classroom Freedom of the press is protected by the First Amendment. We learned that the newspapers and TV provide us with information about candidates so people can vote for government officials.
