An Engineer is the professional who uses knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences, gained by study, experience, and practice, and applies it with judgment to develop ways to utilize, economically, the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind. The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Slide: 4 The "practice of professional engineering" means any act of planning, designing, composing, evaluating, advising, reporting, directing or supervising, or managing any of the foregoing, that requires the application of engineering principles and that concerns the safeguarding of life, health, property, economic interests, the public welfare or the environment. The official definition of "the practice of professional engineering" from the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers.

5. Slide: 5 In this definition, we notice the following: The engineer’s work is based on solid facts and scientific knowledge. The engineer’s attitude towards life and nature is positive in the sense that he/she is a builder. The engineer is concerned with products of applied nature (practical). The engineer’s primary approach is judgment (sensible).

She descended a bit more and shouted, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet her an hour ago but I do not know where I am."
