3 Women wore long sleeveless dresses and were usually bare foot. All clothes were made of linen. All women wore makeup and wore lots of jewelry. Queens sometimes wore feathers.

4 In pictures children were shown naked or with a belt. Sometimes children might be shown imitating what the adults wore.

5 Most Egyptians went barefoot but quarrymen could get them as pay. Travelers and people of higher rank wore shoes as well. One pharaoh went to the after life with solid gold sandals.

6 Egypt men and women wore as much jewelry as they could afford. It was thought to be lucky. Charms were worn to protect the wearer. Children wore fish ornaments to protect them from the dangers of the Nile.

7 Linen was a light weight and thin material worn because it was hot in the desert. Linen was made from flax. The youngest plants made the softest fabric. it was called royal. Half grown plants were used to make heavier fabric. It was called fine thin. Most garments were white or off white because the linen did not dye well.

8 Egyptians valued cleanliness and bathed every day. The wealthy had showers and the priests were expected to bath 4 times a day. The Egyptians also wore underwear.

9 Stones: The Egyptians valued blue lapis lazuli, red carnelian, green feldspar, and greenish blue turquoise. Lapis lazuli was expensive but faience was a cheap substitute. Gold: Gold was the skin of the gods and all gold belonged to the pharaoh. The only way to get gold was to get it from the pharaoh or to steal it.

10 The ancient Egyptians wore clothes made out of linen. Men wore skirts with or without a shirt. Women wore long sleeveless dresses. Most Egyptians went barefoot.
