JOURNAL OF CITATION REPORTS
107
Is an automated and objective assessment tool of the main international research journals Provides a unique perspective for the evaluation and comparison of journals by collecting and classifying citations and articles from all fields specialized science, social science and technology Translation of : http://ip-science.thomsonreuters.com/m/pdfs/mgr/jcr_qrc_fr.pdf

111
http://wokinfo.com/media/pdf/qrc/jcrqrc.pdf JOURNAL CITATION REPORTS Coming in 2 editions: JCR Science edition and JCR Social Sciences edition JCR Science edition: contains data from over 8,000 journals in 171 subject categories ISSN = International Standard Serial Number: is the international number which allows to uniquely identify a serial Total Cites: indicate the total number of times that each journal has been cited by all journals included in the database within the current JCR year Impact Factor: identifies the frequency with which an average article from a journal is cited in a particular year
112
JOURNAL CITATION REPORTS http://wokinfo.com/media/pdf/qrc/jcrqrc.pdf Five-Year Impact Factor: is the average number of times articles from the journal published in the last five years have been cited in the JCR year. This metric can be used to better gauge the impact of journals in fields where the influence of published research evolves over a longer period of time Immediacy Index: measures how frequently the average article from a journal is cited within the same year as publication. This number is useful for evaluating journals that publish cutting-edge research Article Counts: articles published in a journal in a particular year or years
113
JOURNAL CITATION REPORTS http://wokinfo.com/media/pdf/qrc/jcrqrc.pdf Cited Half-life: benchmarks the age of cited articles by showing the number of years back from the current year that account for 50% of the total number of citations to a journal in the current year. This number is useful in making collection management and archiving decisions. A publisher may use this number to adjust editorial policies to compete in different market segments Eigenfactor ® Score: is measured using the current JCR year citations to citable items from the five previous years. While the Impact Factor weighs each citation to a journal equally, the Eigenfactor Score assigns a greater weight to those citations coming from influential journals, allowing these journals to exert greater influence in the determination of the rank of any journal which they reference. The igenfactor Score does not count journal self-citations. The sum of Eigenfactor scores for all journals is 100; each journals Eigenfactor Score is a percentage of this total
114
JOURNAL CITATION REPORTS http://wokinfo.com/media/pdf/qrc/jcrqrc.pdf Article Influence TM Score: measures the relative importance of the journal on a per-article basis. It is the journal’s Eigenfactor Score divided by the fraction of articles published by the journal. That fraction is normalized so that the sum total of articles from all journals is 1. The mean Article Influence Score is 1.00. A score greater than 1.00 indicates that articles in that journal have an above- average influence; a score less than 1.00 indicates that the articles in the journal have a below-average influence

WOS : h INDEX Translation of: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indice_Hhttp://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indice_H http://blog.scopus.com/posts/the-scopus-h-index-whats-it-all-about-part-ii The index was suggested by Jorge Hirsch in 2005 as a tool for determining the relative quality of theoretical physicists, this measure can be extended to all researchers publishing in peer-reviewed journals. The Index is trying to quantify scientific productivity and impact of a scientist in the level of citation of its publications. It can also apply to a group of scientists, as a department, a university or a country.
155
h index is based on the highest number of publications and has at least the same number of citations. Z. L. Pratt has a h=3 that’s mean Pratt has written 3 papers with at least 3 citations each. WOS : h INDEX
