The Annual Review: Background Final Report on Faculty Roles and Responsibilities recommended a comprehensive evaluation of faculty every three years after tenure In the 2008 round of collective bargaining that led to the establishment of the two work patterns, Article 19 (formerly 16)-Performance Review of Faculty was negotiated. Article 19.1 Came into effect on July 1, 2009, Stipulates that tenured faculty must submit an Annual Report by June 1, 2010 and by June 1 of each academic year thereafter. Tenurable, conditional tenurable, and eligible limited- term faculty must submit the Annual Report as part of their tenure dossier by April 30.

Annual Report: Existing Article 19.1 19.1 Recognition and review of full-time faculty work is a formative process[emphasis added] and an Annual Report will constitute an important part of this process. The Annual Report shall be submitted to the appropriate Dean/Director each year with a copy to the relevant Chair by June 1 [emphasis added].

Annual Report: Revised Article 19.1 19.1.1 (amended) The Annual Report shall describe activities, achievements and plans related to teaching and service for those in the Teaching-Service work pattern, or teaching, scholarship and service for those in the Teaching-Scholarship-Service work pattern, or their equivalent in the case of non-instructional faculty. Faculty shall use the Annual Report Form (see Appendix C), and submit it along with a current curriculum vitae.

The Annual Report—Making Changes 19.1.2 (new) Any additions, modifications, or deletions to the types of information gathered by the Annual Report shall be made only through negotiations. 19.1.3 (new) Notwithstanding Article 19.1.2, changes related to the functionality of the form can be made, subject to approval by both the Association and the University.

Annual Report—Data Storage 19.1.4 (new) The pdf version stored electronically and any paper copies of the Annual Report, as well as the Dean/Director’s written response as outlined in Article 19.3.2, shall be deleted no later than seven years from the date of initial submission of the Annual Report to the Dean/Director. 19.1.4.1 (new) At least thirty days prior to the deletion date, a tenured employee may elect to have the pdf versions of the Annual Reports stored electronically until termination of employment. 19.1.4.2 ( new) An employee making such an election may revert to a seven (7)-year retention period at any time.

Annual Report: Maintenance and Administration 19.1.5 (new) The University shall maintain and administer the on-line Annual Report and its associated processes.

Annual Report: Security of Data 19.1.5. 1 (new) The University shall be responsible for the security of the data contained in the Annual Report. 19.1. 6 (new) Each year, by September 1, the Office of Research Services shall provide the Association with a summary report about what information has been compiled from the Annual Report, for whom and for what purposes.

Annual Report: A Failsafe Clause 19.1.7. (new) Should an employee be unable to complete or submit the Annual Report by June 1 as a result of software malfunction, the employee shall submit to Dean/Director, with a copy to the Chair, a paper version of the Annual Report containing the required information no later than June 14.

Next Steps Ask for Ratification Vote Dates ▫March 31, April 1? If Annual Report is ratified, first Annual Reports completed and submitted June 1, 2010 The Office of Research Services is planning some orientation sessions Faculty Evaluation Committee has indicated an interest in orienting faculty to the Form and perhaps monitoring its use
