1 FOR PROGRAMS AT THE 2016 ALA ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN ORLANDO JUNE 23-28, 2016 ACRL 2016 Program Planning

4 - Open to ACRL committees, sections, interest groups and individual ACRL members. - Program planners must maintain ACRL membership throughout the planning cycle. -Proposals are evaluated by PDC -Notifications sent in early October, 2015 -ACRL is allowed approximately 20 programs ACRL Programs at ALA Annual Conferences

5 -Program must address set criteria -$20,000 for all programs -12-month planning process -Individual program proposals: Select one person to be chair of program -All approved programs will be audio recorded. Speakers must consent to this requirement and provide presentations electronically in advance. ACRL Programs at ALA Annual Conferences

6 Now – September, 2015: Finalize program concept, including any collaborations; review proposal form (PDF) May 1, 2015 at 11 a.m. CST: Online chat to discuss collaborations: http://connect.ala.org/node/238090 http://connect.ala.org/node/238090. September 1, 2015: ACRL online program proposal due (no extensions) September, 2015 : PDC evaluates program proposals and makes budget allocations October, 2015: Program planners notified of PDC action Program Timeline (April 2015 – October 2015)

7 $20,000 for all programs. ACRL funding cannot be used for librarian speaker travel/honoraria (A librarian is anyone who holds an MLS or equivalent degree, or who works in the field of library and information science, including faculty in schools of library and information science.) Program Budgets (Reference Chapter 9 of the ACRL Guide to Policies)

8 - Amounts for hotel ($200 per night) and per diem ($50 per day) are the ALA standard - Transportation/travel amount will vary depending on speaker’s location Program Budgets Cont’d ( Reference: Chapter 9 of the ACRL Guide to Policies)

9 Program Budgets Cont’d - Request full amount needed in proposal. - Sections can use basic services funding. - Committees and Interest Groups can use yearly allocation (up to $150). - ACRL program funding cannot be used to take speakers to lunch/dinner, unless the speaker per diem is used (non-librarian speakers only). Otherwise, outside donations must be obtained to pay for group speaker meals.

10 - Due September 1 at 11:59 p.m. CST (No exceptions) - Review proposal questions (PDF) ahead of time (www.acrl.org / CONFERENCES & CONTINUING EDUCATION/ ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROGRAM FAQ)www.acrl.org - Actual proposal form is available from the online FAQ. - Once you start filling out the online proposal form, you can return at any time to edit up until the September 1 deadline. - Staff will confirm receipt of submitted proposals.
