2 Start Strong! “Easy to go down, harder to go up”

3  No Tank Tops or sweaters or shirts covering tank tops. Shirts must have sleeves wider than 3 inches  No hats, hoods or carrying of hats throughout the day, including hats worn in the belt loop  No off the shoulder shirts or shirts that are cut off around the neck, back or stomach  No short skirts, dresses, shorts (arm rule), even when stockings are worn  No sagging pants, shorts etc.  No “color” coded clothing  No sandals, open toe shoes, slippers  No gang related clothing (Admin. to decide)  No inappropriate graphics on clothing  No skin tight clothing, no under garments showing  Loaners for P.E, After three loaners, your grade will be marked down *Loaners are required for students not following dress code * A staff member may ask you to change, even if it is not spelled out in the dress code. Refusal to change will result in a suspension

4  Arrive on time, stay only in the lunch court area.  You must a pass to go to a classroom before or after the bell and during lunchtime.  If you are in Prime Time or tutoring you must get there within 8 minutes of the last bell. You will be asked to leave campus if you are not where you are supposed to be- supervised by a staff member  You may never enter the school gate after you leave campus

5  Bring your Netbook EVERYDAY; it’s your homework!  If your Netbook is broken or not getting Internet, notify your first period teacher- it must go to Mouse Squad for repair  Loaner computers will not have Internet. Not all students will be granted a loaner computer  Fines must be paid on time, failure to pay fines will result in no computer and a loss of 8 th grade activities  If you do not have a working Netbook, you are responsible for staying after school to get assignments completed. “I do not have a computer or Internet” is not an excuse for missing assignments  You must be with you Netbook during Lunchtime or it will be taken away- BE RESPONSIBLE!  Netbook checks will be taking place periodically throughout the day  Detention and loss of Netbook privileges may result when you are not being responsible

6  You must be in your seat by the bell to be considered on time (including 1 st period)  Tardy sweeps are coming!!! Detentions will be assigned when caught in a Tardy Sweep  Every 4 th tardy will result in assigned Saturday School  8 th graders with more than 10 tardies will NOT participate in 8 th grade activities- No Exceptions!

7  Cell phones and electronics are not allowed out or on during the school day- even if they are out to check the time, to call your mom, to shut it off etc.  Parents can call the office if they need to reach you and you may use the office phone if it is necessary to contact your parent  Phones and electronics may be used outside the front gate only  Your phone or electronic device will remain in the office until your parent picks it up- even on the first time! Admin has asked staff to submit all electronics to the Administration- Mr. Klein and Ms. Labas  Refusal to submit your device to a staff member could result in Suspension for major defiance.

8  Bullying is considered any name calling, physical touching, or purposeful exclusion. It WILL NOT be tolerated on campus.  “But I was just playing around”; “He did it to me first”; “I didn’t mean anything by it” are not excuses for bullying  Consequences depend on severity of incident but include lunch detention, phone call home, suspension and jury of peers  Report It! Keep our campus safe.

11  Academic dishonesty includes:  Cheating  Using unauthorized material on examinations  Recycling of your own work without Acknowledgment (e.g. submitting the same paper for different classes)  The fabrication of information or making up sources (copy and paste)  Improper collaboration  Plagiarism

12  Boomers trip in June!  Last Two weeks of school- activities planned  Field trips  Promotion Ceremony You must meet 8 th grade criteria to attend the activities above. This will be determined by your second progress report second semester. See the handbook for criteria. Contracts will NOT be given if you do not make the criteria. All fines- books and netbook fines must be paid by May
