Identify workplace presentations
Workplace presentations can take a variety of forms: ...you may have to speak before a group of people at work. ...perhaps you are a member of a union and have occasion to voice your opinion at meeting . ...maybe you have been asked to say a few words at retirement dinner for a co-worker.

Most workplace presentations fall into two general categories:
1-informative presentations are intended to increase the level of knowledge and understanding among listeners. One purpose of informative presentation may be to instruct the audience. 2-persuasive presentations are designed to influence audience beliefs, opinions, or behaviors. they generally take the form of convincing, reinforcing, or actuating.

State Central Ideas The central idea or thesis is the controlling idea that identifies the essence of your speech. it needs to be clear, concise ,and focused for the audience. It contains two part: Subject. Focus.
13
Subject Focus The subject states who or what the speech is about.
The focus states what information about the subject will be emphasized.

Select Supporting Materials
We use supporting materials to make the presentations an effective. whether persuasive or informative. supporting materials are of two type: Verbal. Visual. In both cases their function is to make the information more interesting, more easily understood, and more believable.
17
verbal supporting materials:
Explanations. Examples. Statistics. Illustrations. Testimony. Comparisons.
18
Construct Outlines The introduction. The body. The conclusion.
After you have selected the most appropriate verbal and visual supports for presentation ,your next task is to organize your information in out line form. Outlines can be constructed in several ways, but we will examine the most basic and versatile out line form that should serve you well for your workplace presentation. The outline consists of three major parts: The introduction. The body. The conclusion.
19
The introduction The introduction acts as a preview for the remainder of the speech. The speaker should begin by capturing the audiences attention . Listeners need to know how the information that follows will be of value of them. The speaker must state the central idea or thesis. The speaker needs to preview the main points that will be developed in the body of the speech.
20
The body The body of the outline contains the speakers choice of main points ,along with the necessary verbal supports. these main points should be expressed as parallel sentences, and each main point should be developed by at lest three different verbal supports. Chronological. Topical. Cause/effect. Problem/solution.
21
The conclusion This section contains three major part :
A summery of the main points. A restatement of central idea. Appropriate closing remarks. The conclusion gives the speaker a chance to review his/her key information one final time. no new information should be introduced in this final portion of the speech.
22
Rehearse Delivery Develop a speaking outline. Practice out loud.
