5 5 2003 FL/OCR FINAL REPORT K-12 HIGHLIGHTS Assistance Plus Program Teacher professional development (in scientifically based reading programs) Improvements in FCAT reading scores 4th graders results in (reading and math) - National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)

6 6 2003 FL/OCR FINAL REPORT COMMUNITY COLLEGES HIGHLIGHTS Increased enrollment, retention and graduation rates for minority students Institution of various programs to close the achievement gap between minority & non- minority students Focused recruitment and selection of racially and ethnically diverse candidate pools into the workforce Parity in transfer rates of A.A. degree recipients and the completion rates of racial/ethnic minority students who receive A.A. degrees

7 7 2003 FL/OCR FINAL REPORT UNIVERSITY-HIGHLIGHTS Expanded outreach programs e.g. TRIO, Opportunity Alliance, and the College Reach-Out Programs Continued scholarship programs and provided financial support for mentoring and career advancement opportunities Reported to governing bodies on the status and representation of minorities and women in the universities’ workforce Pursued funding specifically for FAMU initiatives and provided support for construction of several buildings at FAMU, specifically Ware Rhaney, the Business School, Pharmacy, Journalism and Architecture
