Course SmartStruxure Lite Introduction HOW ALL FITS TOGETHER PPT ver
2
IP/Ethernet network design
StruxureWare Building Expert (in web browser) Allows to configure and monitor your deployment. Stand-alone deployment, everything goes through the monitor LAN Monitor (A monitor is needed if more then 1 MPM in the network and if a network functionality is required) http Ethernet LAN BACnet points collected by the monitor Passive nodes Cost effective solution for small-to-medium buildings
3
IP/Ethernet network design (cont’d)
Schneider Electric or third-party BACnet Building Management System (BMS) Integration to BACnet system No need for a monitor if all nodes are connected through IP LAN BACnet IP / BACnet Ethernet BACnet points collected by the BMS directly Ethernet LAN Passive nodes
4
General network design
Guidelines – network traffic only CANBus, Ethernet, ZigBee: Ratio of 24 passive nodes to 1 monitor node BMS Monitor Monitor Monitor LAN Ethernet LAN or CANbus ZigBee Review with point count Up to 24 nodes per group Group A Group B Group C
5
Network discovery LAN StruxureWare Building Expert (in web browser)
Monitor Monitor send a heartbeat request Ethernet By the network discover y command and every 10 minutes
6
Network discovery (continued)
StruxureWare Building Expert (in web browser) The Monitor plays a significant role both for monitoring and for networking LAN Monitor Remote database download Ethernet The remote DBs is sent to the Monitor at the network discovery command, it is not to 100 % a copy of the content only the needed content to monitor the values from each DB. End-devices Passive nodes
7
Normal operation – COV based
StruxureWare Building Expert (in web browser) LAN Monitor Property Casts sent on change of value (COV) 30 seconds by default. Ethernet 23.0 °C 22.8 °C Passive nodes
8
CANbus network design 120 Ohms resistors must be placed at both termination points of the CANbus chain link. CANbus transfer rate is proportional to total chain-link length. 125 Kbps: Up to 500 m 250 kbps: Up to 250 m (default setting) 500 kbps: Up to 100 m Must be the same speed configuration for all MPMs BMS LAN Monitor passive nodes
9
ZigBee concepts ZigBee coordinator is a device that sets up the network, is aware of all the nodes within its network. Every ZigBee network must contain a network coordinator. ZigBee router can act as an intermediate router, passing on data from other devices. End-devices BMS LAN Monitor Router nodes Coordinator
10
ZigBee network design – best practices
Route redundancy Ideally no more than 5 wireless hops Example respecting guidelines Building Expert BMS LAN Router / Passive nodes Site Monitor Coordinator 10
11
BAD wireless network design
Building Expert No Route redundancy Example not respecting guidelines BMS LAN Coordinator Update with room controllers Monitor Passive nodes Passive nodes & Routers & Routers 11
12
Using multiple network technology
Possible if the Monitor is the originating point of each technology segment. Web browser BMS Passive nodes LAN Caution! This is a theoretical and principal schematic. Ethernet Passive nodes CANBus ZigBee Change wording Warning.. Passive nodes Monitor Coordinator 12
