Family history - add 5 years if 2 or more of your grandparents lived to 80 or over Decide how each of the following items apply to you and add or subtract the appropriate number of years from you basic life expectancy score: -subtract 4 years if any parent, grandparent, sister, or brother died of heart attack or stroke before 50. - subtract 2 years if anyone died from these diseases before 60. -subtract 3 years for each of diabetes, thyroid disorder, breast cancer, cancer of the digestive system, asthma, or chronic bronchitis among parents or grandparents.

3 2. Marital status -add 4 years if married -subtract 1 year for every unwedded decade if over 25 and not married. 1. 3. Economic status -add 2 years if your family income is over 60k per year. -subtract 3 years if you have been poor for the greater part of your life.

4 4. Physique - Subtract 1 year for every 10 lbs overweight - Subtract 2 years for each inch your girth measurement exceeds your chest measurement 5. Exercise - Add 3 years for regular and moderate exercise (jogging 3 times a week) - Add 5 years for regular and vigorous exercise (long-distance running 3 times a week) - Subtract 3 years for a sedentary job - Add 3 years for an active job

5 6. Alcohol - add 2 years for light drinking (1-3 drinks a day). - subtract 5-10 years for heavy drinking (4 or more drinks a day). - subtract 1 year for being a teetotaler. 7. Smoking - subtract 8 years for smoking 2 or more packs of cigs a day. - subtract 2 years for 1-2 packs per day - subtract 2 years for less than 1 pack per day. - subtract 2 years for regularly smoking a pipe or cigars.

Disposition - add 2 years for being a reasoned, practical person. - subtract 2 years for being aggressive, intense, and competitive. - add 1 to 5 years if you are basically happy and content with life. - subtract 1-5 years if you are often unhappy, worried, and often feel guilty. 9. Education - subtract 2 years for less than a high school education. - add 1 year for attending 4 years beyond high school. - add 3 years for attending 5 or more years beyond high school.

7 10. Environment - add 4 years for living most of your life in a rural area. - subtract 2 years for living most of your life in an urban environment. 11. Sleep - subtract 5 years for sleeping more than 9 hours per day. 12. Temperature - add 2 years for home thermostat set at 68 degrees or less. 13. Health care - add 3 years for regular medical checkups and regular dental care. - subtract 2 years for being frequently ill.
