Homework Students are expected to read for a minimum of 15 minutes every evening Monday through Friday. Reading is encouraged over the weekend as well. Please record all reading in the reading minutes log. Students are also to practice their Math Facts for 10 minutes every evening with the assigned facts for the week. The math facts practice sheet will be in a plastic sheet protector. Students may use a dry erase marker to practice and reuse the assignment throughout the week. Homework will be in the form of a homework packet. It will be given out on Friday and then collected the following Friday. Reading minutes will be checked weekly along with the homework.

Specials Schedule: The special area classes include Music, P.E., and Library. These classes will be on a six day rotation schedule. It will take everyone time to memorize the new schedule because it will vary from week to week. So the first grade team in encouraging everyone to wear tennis shoes daily.

Consequences: 1.First offence: Friendly reminder 2.Second offence: Refocus desk 3.Third offence: Phone call to parents 4.Fourth offence: Refocus to another classroom 5. Fifth offence: Misconduct ticket and after detention. (see misconduct ticket form)

Positive Rewards: Children are expected to have good behavior at school. However, when they go above and beyond what is expected of them praise, awards, notes home, and pencil passes are given, and treasure box privileges. A group award is given when the whole class has earned an “Andy Award”. Each classroom also has a system in place to reward the classroom as a whole for good behavior. When the goal is achieved the class may receive a reward such as a popsicle treat.

Teacher /Parent Communication Communication is a very important component to any relationship. This holds true for the teacher, parent, and student relationship. There are many ways that we will provide you information about what is going on in the classroom. Every week we will send home a weekly newsletter. The homework sheet also contains important notes and information. Each teacher maintains a website uses e-mail to communicate personally. Feel free to contact any of us through the phone or e-mail and we will be sure to get back to you within 24 hours. If you would like to meet with us before or after school please contact us and we will set up an appointment.

PTO Information There are many opportunities to be involved in our school by volunteering and working with our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization).
