Hour 1 February/18/14 Eric Weber Career Tech Found

What is Computer Programming? Computer programmers write code to create software programs. They turn the program designs into instructions for the computers to follow. They also test programs and debug them if there is a problem.

Nature of work They write programs in a variety of computer languages. Update and expand existing programs. Debug programs by testing them and fixing errors. Build and use computer –assisted software engineering (CASE) tools to automate the writing of some code. Use code libraries, which are collections of independent code, to simplify the writing.

Working conditions They usually work in offices. Most commonly in the computer systems design and related service industry. Programmers usually work alone, but sometimes work with other computer specialists on large projects. Because writing code can be done anywhere, many programmers telecommute. Most computer programmers work full time.

What you need to do be one You must have a bachelor’s degree, but sometimes employers hire people with a associate’s degree. A good collage for learning for this career is ITT Technical Institute-Wyoming. A good class in high school for this career is computer tech. An other class good class is web design.

Employment Employment for computer programming is projected to grow 8 percent from 2012 to 2020. It is not competitive. I would like to see a opening in Michigan. There’s no particular place I want to work at.

Goals I want to do well in this work, live comfortably, live in a good house, satisfy my own personal wants and needs. The median annual salary for computer programmers was 74,280$ in May 2012. This does fit my goals. Probably the first thing I buy with this money is a house or whatever home I can afford.

Back up career Website design is my back up career. They are responsible for the layout, color scheme, and general design for websites. There are no set education requirements for website designing bust some have associates degrees. They mainly stay indoors, work on computers and work with data. The job is projected to grow 20 percent from 2012 to 2020. Most web designers work from 20 dollars an hour to 50 dollars an hour but this can depend on the designers experience and the average web designer makes 50,000 dollars a year. I choose web designer because it is similar to computer programming.

Thoughts The thing I look forward to the most is being able to make cool video games through computer programming. The thing I am looking forward the least is the moments when you are just sitting around and there is nothing to do for the moment. I am still considering if I want to go into this career. But I do know now what I need to do if make up my mind and go into this career. In my opinion this is a good career to go into.
