1 What is ACCPAC? ACCPAC is ACC’s political action committee ACCPAC opens the door and assures a seat at the table with key members of Congress 100% of personal contributions are used to support the election of pro- cardiology congressional candidates Of the 116 ACCPAC supported candidates up for election in 2012, 106 were victorious ACCPAC supports both federal congressional candidates and federal political committees ACCPAC helps build grassroots contacts to bring about election results in line with our advocacy goals 1

2 Contributions from ACC members like you aid in building effective relationships with the members of Congress who are supportive of the cardiovascular community. Your support ensures we are at the table, not on the menu, when key lawmakers are debating who and how much to cut. Included in the recent “fiscal cliff” package: A one-year patch of the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate Provisions to incentivize the use of registry programs, such as ACC’s Pinnacle and NCDR, to meet Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) requirements Prior authorization and changes to the IOASE were successfully kept out of the agreement Other recent Advocacy successes: ACC was asked to testify 5 times before Congress within the past year A $400 million imaging offset was removed from must pass trade legislation Language regarding our clinical data registries and expanded post-market surveillance were included in the final FDA User Fee Bill signed into law in July 2
