Good examination of Mayor Daley and his role in the tragedy. Larson, Erik. The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America. New York, NY: Crown Publishers, 2003. Excellent account of Chicago’s re-birth after the fire to the world with the fair. Specific focus on Dr. HH Holmes and the murders occurring during the event.
