Driver Education Program ▫ One semester comprehensive ▫ Fully-integrated 2 phase program that exceeds state standards. 30 hours+ of classroom instruction 6 hours+ of BTW (behind the wheel) instruction

Phase 1- The Classroom Rules of the Road I.P.D.E. Process* Natural Laws Intersections & Decision- making Rural and Urban Roads Highway Transportation System Alcohol & Drugs Preventive Maintenance Insurance New and Used Car Buying Law Enforcement

Phase 2- Behind the Wheel Parking lot/Range Subdivision Rural Roads Lane Changing Light City Driving Expressway City Driving ▫ Identify problems and successfully solve them in real world driving situations ▫ Variety of traffic/roadway/driving conditions ▫ Lesson progression is based of ability level

Grading Classroom ▫based on total points from homework, notebooks, article reviews, and tests Behind the Wheel Performing specific tasks of each lesson (# of mistakes made). Each lesson is based on 100 points (homework grades) Final Grade- Average of last 5 driving grades

Cooperative Driver Training Program Requirements ▫Grade of “85%” or higher in the classroom ▫Grade of “85%” or higher in BTW Grade of B- does not meet requirements Not an average of both scores Drivers BTW Test Great incentive to practice and do well in our program!

Graduated Driver Licensing Began Jan. 1, 1998 Recently updated Jan. 1, 2008 3 Phases ▫ Permit Phase (Age 15) ▫ Licensing Phase (Ages 16-17) ▫ Full Licensing Phase (Ages 18-20)
