II.Being Missional Through the Church God has chosen to use the church to bring the gospel to the world. 11 “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Did you know that before the Cooperative Program:Did you know that before the Cooperative Program: –Every SBC agency and institution had to make pleas for financial contributions directly from each church. –Every SBC ministry did ministry based on pledges with no budget to work from. Sometimes the money came in and sometimes it didn’t.

–Missions support was irregular and sporadic and could even be hindered by the weather. –Most smaller churches couldn’t participate in missions because the offerings that would be received would not be worth the effort to go collect them.

–Most larger churches grew tired of giving because they had petition after petition coming to their church looking for money.

The Cooperative Program did many things to help ministry and missions within the SBC.The Cooperative Program did many things to help ministry and missions within the SBC. –It enabled everyone to be a part of missions, locally, nationally, and internationally, from the smallest church to the largest church. –It brought greater unity between SBC churches around the world. Everyone began to work together to accomplish more.

–It provides greater security and stability to missionaries both at home and overseas. –It enables every Christian and every church to be a part of training and supporting new leaders in missions and ministry around the world.
