Classes will follow a positive behavior reinforcement system called Class DOJO. This system allows students to earn a point at the end of each day. Students should receive a minimum of 5 points a week. Major Takeaway: Student reflection! Classroom Management Systems

Agendas must be checked weekly. Homework is a requirement in 4 th grade, but will not be graded. Nightly reading— 20 min Weekly fluency practice— 15 min on FASST Focus (We will notify you when it is up and running!) Weekly science practice-- Weekly Worksheet (quizzes given over information on Fridays) Mid 9 Weeks Progress Reports will go home in Thursday folders and are due back signed by parents by that Friday. Report Cards go home each 9 weeks Progress Reports go home at 4 week intervals Awards Assemblies will be held twice this year – at mid-year and end-of-year. Recognition Ribbons will be given based on achievement in academic areas, special areas, and behavior. Distinguished Achievement (All A’s) Honorable Achievement (A’s and B’s) Commitment to Excellence (100% effort in all classes) Excellence in Conduct (All E’s in conduct) Longhorn Leader - a HIGHLY selective award for students who demonstrate excellence as UT Peacekeepers and demonstrate outstanding leadership. Perfect Attendance (No Absences and fewer than 3 Tardies) Special Area Ribbons (STEAM, Art/Orchestra, Wellness, PE) Report Cards and Awards Assemblies

Language Arts: Narrative and Expository Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking A shift from learning to read to reading to learn. More independence required. Building endurance to read for longer periods of time with a high level of comprehension and ability to discuss, write or answer questions about text.
