1 CHANGES IN FARMING AND IRRIGATION TECHNIQUES
In avertedly introduced crops such as alfalfa, rice, pistachio, and sesame through the encouragement of the government because of the new irrigation system allowing it. Increased Rome’s economy through the want for their agriculture secret (Rome selling technique) and through massive export of surplus goods. Much of the population of Iran and other arid countries in Asia and North Africa historically depended upon the water from qanats

4 Major spread of diseases
- Both Ancient Rome and China experienced large population loss from small pox, measels, and also the bubonic plague - These diseases played roles in the demise of both of these influential empires

5 The Chinese Empire - Smallpox, yellow fever, cholera, dysentery, leprosy, and tuberculosis were many of the disease that worsened into epidemics within the Chinese Empire(among others) - Many of the diseases increased along with when trade between the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa increased -The main diseases that affected the population of ancient china were smallpox, malaria, and the bubonic plague, which came from Africa, and India.

6 The Ancient Roman Empire
- This empire was widely affected by the plague, which wiped out masses in Rome - Also, because of the large clustered population malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia, jaundice, parasites, and infections of the liver, bladder, and kidney.

-Based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ -Originates in Palestine among Jews -Spreads rapidly throughout the Roman Empire resulting in intense persecution (especially under emperors Nero and Diocletian) -Paganism is eliminated in Christianity prior to the deaths of the original disciples -As the spread continues and the original followers die, pagan beliefs make inroads (e.g. hellfire, immortality of the soul, the Trinity) -Because of doctrinal concessions, Christianity draws more converts and becomes widely acceptable

-Unknown founder/point of origin -Developed gradually from 2000 B.C.E onwards -Traditional religion of India characterized by polytheism and belief in reincarnation - The Vedas are the primary sacred texts -Remains concentrated in India -Eventually gives way to Buddhism

-Founded by Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) -Emphasis on salvation through meditation and moderation -Eventually weakens Hinduism's influence -Spreads from India and flourishes more so in East Asia -Doctrinal matters not put into writing until many years After Buddha's death -Numerous schools of thought and ideas about Buddha's life develop
