If urgent, dial 999. 2.Watch the ‘think you know’ cartoons with your child. 3.Keep up to date with your child's development online. 4.Talk to your child about what they are up to online. 5.Keep all equipment that connects to the Internet in a family space. 6.Set boundaries in the online world, just as you would do in the real world. 7.Know how your child is connecting to the Internet –e.g. your neighbour’s internet? 8.Use parental controls!

2 Password Protect your Tablet/ Smartphone In the settings area of your device, set a 4 digit password and keep it to yourself. You Tube’s safety policy instructions are different for desktops, ipads (IOS) and android devices. Eg Samsung. Remember,Facebook states that you should be over 13 years of age to use it. Video games are grouped into recommended U,12 16 and 18 age ranges. Games content downloaded from the internet should still be monitored Video games such as ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto’ have adult content and are not designed for children. Minecraft is very popular. It can be useful as it is designed for children – it is like an online version of Lego! Long periods playing video games can be replaced by reading, drawing, playing, or making something! Get children to create ‘gamer’ names for themselves, so they can’t be identified. You will not be always there when your child goes online. Allow your child online, but teach them about the dangers. Video Games Are OK.. Aren't They?

3 Tips For Children Online Never give out personal information to people you don’t know on the internet. They may want to harm you. Don’t accept emails or open files from people you don’t know. They can harm your computer or be nasty! Never meet anyone you don’t know alone. Even if you have met online, take an adult with you. Do tell an adult if you are worried about anything nasty online. Call your Internet company.
