4 Baptism “for the dead” Was Paul baptized for a person who is now dead? Was Apollos baptized for a person who is now dead? At the resurrections will we have been baptized for a person that had died? 4

5 Baptism “for the dead” a. If we deny baptism, are we not foolish? b. Paul’s life confirmed his conviction of resurrection c. Deprivations were as foolish as baptism if this life is all there is d. Corinthian’s hope had been corrupted by false teachers e. Some may have discontinued preparation for their death 5

6 How can the effects of physical death be overcome? a. The concept of resurrection was contrary to expectations b. Planting a dead seed to produce a harvest was accepted c. Man’s body will be similar to a seed with superior production d. Will our identity be in tact? e. God’s order and continuity will remain f. Bodies will be subject to a new spiritual law g. Understanding of changed bodies is crucial 6

7 How can there be a resurrection if all have not died? a.Corruption will be unknown is heaven b.How will the transformation occur? c.We shall all be changed d.Corruptible must become incorruptible e.Death is swallowed up in victory 7

8 Will death be no more after the resurrection? a.O, death, where is your punishment b.God will have destroyed the grave c.Death is the natural consequence of man’s sin d.Victory is the free gift of God purchased by the blood of Calvary’s Lamb e.Therefore, abound in the work of the Lord 8
