on One on every corner Over the past 30 years there has been more than a 25% increase in the number of off-licensed premises The greater the availability of alcohol, the greater the risk of young people suffering alcohol harm Effective harm prevention therefore not only requires targeting education, information and support at an individual level among young people, but control of the concentration of alcohol outlets at a community level

North East Licensing Programme The programme will be developed jointly by NESLG and Balance Provide early consideration of forthcoming legislation / guidance Coordinating activity and sharing of local and national good and cost- effective practice Provide additional capacity at a time of austerity cuts Ensure that the North East is in a positive position to maximise the opportunities and thereby reduce alcohol harm within our communities
