“Remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.” Ephesians 2:12-14
19
Praise God for his desire to reconcile us to himself so that we might be one with him forever. Thank Jesus for becoming alienated from the Father on the cross, so that we could know Him. Thank Him for uniting believers into one body in Christ.
20
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5. “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:1- 3
21
*Pray for God to grant wisdom to the elders of NCPC and Harbor as they continue to discern whether the Lord is calling us to merge as one church. If God’s desire if for us to merge, pray that he would make every path straight as we continue to navigate this possibility. Pray for God to grant us wisdom as churches and as individuals to be able to face the challenges of merging into one church (if that is His will). Pray that the gospel would grip each of our hearts, and compel us to be humble, gentle, eager to maintain unity etc especially in light of the need for unity and adaptability if the merge were to occur (Ephesians 4:1- 3). Confess our need for Jesus and confess any sin that could hinder unity.
22
“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:1-8
23
Pray that God would erode all of the selfishness in each of us so that we are more concerned about the interests of each other than ourselves. Pray that God would strengthen us to overcome the spiritual battle that we face; Satan hates unity and will fight against advances in God’s Kingdom. Pray that we would continually utilize the weapons of faith, prayer, and the Word.
