1. Field Education Experience the Adventure Dr. James Barber Director of Field Education School of Theology and Missions Oral Roberts University

Fulfilling the Great Commission Students pursuing a Master of Divinity (MDiv) or a Master of Practical Theology (MPT) are required to enroll in two semesters of Field Education (FED) after 50% of their coursework is complete. MDIV Students must complete ~ 45 hours of coursework before enrolling in FED MPT Students must complete ~ 30 hours before enrolling in FED

3. Fulfilling the Great Commission FED students are sent to a church and a community site for hands on learning Theologically trained Site Supervisors help students acquire and test ministry skills

4. An Education on the Field The FED Site Supervisor will help you become competent and successful in ministry

5. Practicing Church Ministry You will learn about church leadership

6. Practicing Ministry You will gain understanding of parachurch ministries

7. Practicing Ministry Church and community sites will teach you practical application of what you learn at Seminary You will have opportunities to pray for the sick

8. Practicing Ministry You may choose to serve as a chaplain at a hospital or hospice center

9. Practicing Ministry You may lead a Bible study Or minister to the homeless

10. But First You Must Study to Show Yourself Approved... Complete the prerequisite: Introduction to Pastoral Care—PRM 673 You will learn: How to launch your life plan and help others to do the same How to journal theological reflections and write case studies How to find a local church and community site in which to practice ministry

11. When You Leave Seminary You will have more than a degree You will have practical knowledge of how to jump cultures and reach into every man’s world to offer a reason for the hope that is within you
