Joint research activity How to get started Remember the plan you are writing can be used as introduction, material and methods and intro to data analysis in for your articles
2
Definition of Research and Development (R & D) Research and development and creative work carried systematically to provide a basis for more knowledge and to use existing knowledge in new a way it has not been used earlier. Research and Development (R &D ) must contain a new idea not seen before: Research and development i categorised as follows: Basic research, Applied research Development.

4
Innovation Nothing New Objective Innovation is to implement a new or a better product, process, management etc. Into a product that can be sold or a process used in production or administration etc. Innovation is the result of plans/activities directed towards improving a product, a process, sale, marketing or management. Method Innovation may use new knowledge generated in R & D but may also be a new combination or use of existing knowledge and technologies.
5
Demonstration and innovation Demonstration Is presenting a prototype for end users. Innovation Implement a new or a better product, process, management etc. Into a product that can be sold Demonstration Innovation Time
6
Research and Development (R & D) and innovation Basic research Applied research Development Demonstration Innovation Time scale Discuss where this activity is to be found in this continuum?
7
The importance of making joint decision all have agreed on and accepted Decision making. The research that has to be carried out and article to be written Project I Project II Project III Project IV Project V Project VI
8
Steps that may contribute to focus the project Hypothesis or overall objectives Specific objective Results Activities
9
PhD plan called synopsis in the material given to you: 1) Background or introduction giving a state of art review and intro to the study (2-3 pages) Work is not duplicating existing studies, provide new knowledge or ad on to work published Provide a background to hypothesis, objective and activities in the study Hypothesis and objective can be presented in this section or in a section entitled Hypothesis and objectives.
10
Hypothesis Hypothesis: Hypothesis: Is a logic and testable assumption build on knowledge (Background).
11
Objective The objectives must be very clearly outlined Objectives express the expected outcome that must be fulfilled. The results that is the outcome of your study can prove or rejects the objective.
12
, A tool to make a useful Engagement Plan. Stakeholder analysis can be a Matrix where stakeholders are plotted against two variables. Stake can be importance of the stakeholder against the ‘influence’ of the stakeholder.. Stakeholder analysis
13
Stakeholder assessment, where will you use your energy to keep contact i.e. in relation to your interest in the stakeholder
14
Define activities Activities downstream may have specific demands for the outcome of a previous activity
