W-W HAT What is the perceived world of the future? What is an ‘irony’? What is the irony in the context of the topic? What do we hope to achieve through Science and Technology in future?

Perfect World Higher efficiency Expanding life into space Computers advance to outsmart their inventors – human beings Solve various real life problems Eg: Environmental problems like global warming, melting of polar caps No more traffic congestion (Flying vehicles as modes of transports)

Humans perceive the future world to have advancements that would bring positivity, benefits and conveniences for us However, with tremendous progress and improvements in technology, it actually makes humans lazier and over-reliant on technology

Higher efficiency Environmentally-friendly Convenience Less workload for human beings

R- REASON What is the reason behind the advancements in science and technology? Humans are selfish and always hope to acquire the best that they could ‘Survival of the fittest’

A- ASSUMPTIONS What are the assumptions about our perceived world in the future to be perfect? Technology has helped us to solve many problems (eg. transport, food production) Through continuous advancements of technology, humans believe the perceived world in future to be perfect

A- ASSUMPTIONS What are the assumptions of disastrous impacts caused by advancement in Science and Technology in future? Robots/Replicants may overpower humans in future Technology becomes indispensable and humans cannot survive without it Further exploitations of natural resources to make room for technology advancements -> threat to the world we live in

I - IMPLICATIONS What are the some of the implications of Science and Technology in future? The world becomes more and more advanced Modern technology brings ease for work that needs to be done

I - IMPLICATIONS Price has to be PAID -> Natural or artificial resources (greenery, buildings etc) would have to be removed to make place for technology improvements Singularity – The moment when technological change becomes so rapid and profound, it represents a rupture in the fabric of human history

E-E VIDENCE What are examples or evidences that support the claim that Science and Technology have negative impacts on us in future? Brazil Case Study Deforestation over the past century in Brazil to obtain rich, natural resources like timber and wood developed for the benefits of the country’s economy and infrastructure and are running low

C- COUNTER - EXAMPLE What are counter-examples of positive impacts that Science and Technology impose on us? Modern devices such as iPhone, iPad, that allow functioning through convenient touch-screen methods NYGH in Singapore makes use of iPad as a form of teaching material for students to learn and at the same time, enjoy the learning process
