The RUnUP project has been approved to move into the Implementation Phase 26 projects submitted 13 approved without condition 6 need further clarification and modification 7 will not proceed

URBACT II Monitoring Committee Concluding Remarks This project proposal is generally of high quality and the topic is a particular EU priority. The results would be interesting to many other cities and regions. Potential additional partners that might be interested in joining the project should be considered. RUnUP Overview Role of Universities for Economic Development in Urban Poles How cities can harness the role of Universities in promoting entrepreneurship through the triple helix approach – the combination of the university, business and public sectors Aimed at addressing the issues facing Urban Poles - cities with between 100,000 and 200,000 inhabitants Dedicated lead expert, Dr Clive Winters, University of Coventry URBACT Local Support Groups (ULSGs)

Objectives Develop comprehensive programmes that will bring Universities, the Business sector and the Public sector together to drive forward Economic Development Provide structured support to start-up companies, providing strategic consultation and helping the expansion of companies through partnership working Ensure University curriculums pay attention to the skills required by local businesses URBACT activities must have an actual impact on local urban sustainable practices and policies
