6. Camera Basics Focusing will make the objects and subjects in your shot more defined and clear. Most of the time you will find that you want everything in your frame focused, but sometimes you may want the background or foreground to be blurred or not in focus – so that the subject in the frame stands out. Exposure refers to the total amount of light allowed to enter the lens. Most of the time the automatic exposure setting on your camera will be sufficient. White Balance Cameras do not adjust as well as humans, and you will notice that footage can often looks orange, yellow, or some other off color. To counteract this problem, all cameras have a white balance function. When you white balance a camera, you are telling it what is white in a given lighting situation.
