Why are Alumni Important? Provide our “institutional history” – Traditions, knowledge, stories Provide the bulk of the work of the Fraternity – Direct student support, presentations, etc. GRADUATING SENIORS

Alumni support shows when… GRADUATING SENIORS We can support the fraternity financially We can support the fraternity as volunteers. We can provide a network of professional and volunteer possibilities to new alumni Alumni Membership means AФΩ is more than a college thing!

Main Types of Alumni Supportive Alumni Help keep dues low and programs active by donating money to Alpha Phi Omega Interested in keeping in touch, but not able or interested in taking on an official role GRADUATING SENIORS Alumni Volunteer Have time and interest in serving at some level as a volunteer

Maintain Contact with Local Chapter Stay in touch with Chapter Alumni Officer Go to banquets, homecomings special anniversaries Attend Conferences Attend Traditional Chapter Events GRADUATING SENIORS

Maintain Contact with National Fraternity Keep contact information current at the National Office Log in to the new Member Portal Update email, address and other personal information Encourage APO friends to stay in touch

Alumni Associations Chapter- or geographically-based Look on apo.org to find out the current requirements to start and maintain an alumni association Belonging to an alumni association is different than participating in a chapter GRADUATING SENIORS

Financial Support Opportunities GRADUATING SENIORS Society of Life Members One time initial contribution $50 for new graduates $100 one year or more since graduation Goes to Fraternity Endowment Fund Certificate, pin, membership card, T&T Annual Fund (Torchbearers) Yearly campaign/contribution All Donors are recognized Torchbearer: $75 - $149 Silver Torchbearer: $150 - $249 Gold Torchbearer: $250 - $499 Diamond Torchbearer: $500 - $999 Silver Founders Circle: $1,000 - $2,499 Gold Founders Circle: $2,500 - $4,999 Diamond Founders Circle: $5,000 and above Goes to annual operating budget Certificate/stickers, pin, recognition in calendar The Blue and Gold Society Provides recognition for large gifts Goes to Fraternity Endowment Fund Donors may either contribute during their lifetime or make Alpha Phi Omega a beneficiary Generally to be considered once you are established The 1925 Club Alumni are not eligible to give Can make a donation on an active’s behalf Could be used as a gift on an honor Recognition would be to the named Active brother Goes to Fraternity Annual Fund

Serving the Community Many alumni continue to serve the community by using the skills they developed in Alpha Phi Omega Rotary Clubs or other service clubs Volunteer for Boy or Girl Scouts GRADUATING SENIORS

Serving the Community Volunteer for other nonprofit organizations Serve on a non-profit’s Board of Directors Career in non-profit or Government GRADUATING SENIORS

Chapter Support Volunteers Chapter Advisor – Supports chapter, primarily leadership – Serves as resource for chapter – Does NOT run chapter! Guidelines – In general, wait 2-3 years after graduation – More if wanting to advise home chapter – Chapters select their advisors - and have the right to remove them GRADUATING SENIORS

As An Alumni Volunteer… Things you should know… Except for full-time staff in the National Office, Alpha Phi Omega alumni leaders are volunteers. Working as an alumni volunteer in Alpha Phi Omega is a privilege, not a right. As an alumni volunteer, you represent the National Fraternity to undergraduates and the local community. Want to Become an Alumni Volunteer? Identify your interest areas and skill sets Time Commitment: How much? When?
