1 Tips to Help Children Adjust to their New Grade (or a new school!) Establish and stick to routines at home (bedtimes, homework time, “tech-off” times, etc) Ask your child about their teachers and classes (open –vs- yes/no) Sit down review of binders and the book bag

2 Ask your child to explain: – Their schedule – Binder and material expectations for each class – Where homework is written/where they write homework – Their agenda and how they will record future assignments, tests, projects – Their blog and how to access teacher pages – How to find out about homework/assignments forgotten or missed due to absence

3 Review the MS blogs: – Dr. Roukema – Grade Level – Child’s teachers especially their advisor – CISSA – MS Counselors

4 Concerned or Have Questions? – Subject specific: subject teacher – General (child, grade, or school): advisor (homeroom) – Social/emotional concerns or follow-up questions: MS Counselors – Behavior or more general SAS: Middle School office

5 Middle School Open House September 24 Progress Reports September 21/22 (return signed)
