11.  NDDOT’s Executive Budget recommendation assumes approximately $616.5 million in federal funding will be received.  Unfortunately, the current transportation funding program MAP-21 was extended to only May 31, 2015. This is a short-term extension of the program and as a result 2015 funding is still uncertain.  To date NDDOT has received a federal appropriation of approximately $143 million for 2015. 28. Current Development NDDOT currently has under contract the segment of US 85 from I- 94 to Watford City to prepare an environmental document to 4- lane this segment of roadway. This environmental document includes the widening and/or replacement of the Long-X Bridge. This project goes thru the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, along with some of the National Grasslands. Project includes the consideration of Wildlife Crossings. (Both over and under the roadway) Purchasing of additional R/W along with the relocation of numerous Utilities will be a major challenge for the NDDOT. Cooperation among the State and Federal Resource agencies will be Key to the project’s success.

Work on US Highway 85 Many road construction projects have taken place on US Highway 85 from border to border over the past few years including: In 2014 approximately $244.3 million of road projects were bid out for construction. Some of the projects are multi-year projects. In 2015 more than $33.4 million in construction projects will be bid out.
