Supercarriers Unofficial term for larger aircraft carriers Are over 70,000 tonnes Biggest warships ever built CATOBAR is the system used to catapult airplanes with takeoff runway needed is that over 500 ft. ( the length of the aircraft carrier takeoff strip) The BAR in CATOBAR is arrestor wires which reduce the landing area needed
