Type Second Quarter Sales 5.Click Enter box Select a Cell and Enter Text - Reference Book: Page EX 16 We will be creating an easy-to-read worksheet that shows product sales for the 2 nd qtr by sales channel. We will also create a chart showing 2 nd qtr sales. To create an effective worksheet, gather your requirements, understand your sources of data (i.e. an external database, another spreadsheet, the Web, etc.), and sketch out a preliminary design.

AutoSum will sum all numbers above or to the left of the active cell. You must look at the range, however, because this is not always what you want.

24 Excel Project 1: Creating a Worksheet and an Embedded Chart 24 Clearing Cell Contents Deleting Cell Contents can be done a couple of ways: Using the Fill Handle –Select the cell or range of cells –Point to the fill handle so the pointer changes to a cross hair –Drag the fill handle back into the selected cell or range until a shadow covers the cell or cells you want to erase. –Release the mouse button Try doing this and then Click UNDO 1.Using the Shortcut Menu –Select the cell or range of cells to be cleared –Right-click the selection –Click Clear Contents on the shortcut menu Try doing this and then Click UNDO

25 Excel Project 1: Creating a Worksheet and an Embedded Chart 25 Clearing Cell Contents Deleting Cell Contents can be done a couple of ways: Delete Key –Select the cell or range of cells to be cleared –Press the DELETE key Try doing this and then Click UNDO 1.Clear Command –Select the cell or range of cells to be cleared –Click Edit on the menu bar and then point to Clear –Click All on the Clear submenu Try doing this and then Click UNDO

26 Excel Project 1: Creating a Worksheet and an Embedded Chart 26 Clearing the Entire Worksheet Click the Select All button on the worksheet (empty cell between Column Letter A and Row Number 1) Press DELETE OR - Click Edit - Point to Clear - Click All If you try this, Click UNDO when finished.
