Developed and Developing Nations Objective: To examine and analyze the characteristics of developing and developed nations.

Introduction: Developed Nations- 1 st world/ high development – Ex. European, US, Canada, Japan Developing Nations: 2 nd or 3 rd world/ Some development – Ex. Burma, Nigeria, the Sudan Modernization: changes in a nation that enable it to set up a stable government and produce a high level of goods and services

To survive if problems arise Struggling Economies Cash crops grown for profit Change in trade/crop failure = failure of economy Educated Citizens high literacy rate Specialization Lack of education low literacy rates Citizens need $ work over go to school Slow Rate of Population Growth Role of women- not homemaker, more educated, work, marry late, less children Rapid Population growth Poor Medical conditions Need children to work too many pple govt unable to meet needs Manage Debt able to pay off debts High Debt Hurts economy- drains econ money
