20 Academic Counseling Groups 8 weeks: one class period a week on rotating bases –Study Strategies –Homework Tips –Positive attitude and Success –Using an Academic Planner

25 Results – 6 th Grade GPA Improvement 64 (37%) improved GPA from Trimester 1 to Trimester 2. 57% 57% of the targeted students earned a 2.0 or better GPA from Trimester 1 to Trimester 3.

26 Results – 7 th Grade GPA Improvement 47 (24%) improved GPA from Trimester 1 to Trimester 2. 52% of targeted students earned a 2.0 or better GPA from Trimester 1 to Trimester 3.

27 Results – 8 th Grade GPA Improvement 46 (72%) improved GPA from Trimester 1 to Trimester 2. 85% of targeted students earned a 2.0 or better GPA from Trimester 1 to Trimester 3.

29 Implications Program was successful at all three grade levels The smaller the number of students served, the greater the impact, however the large group showed a greater number of students who improved. Next year we may need to lower group size, utilize field work students to assist, enlist support and help from teacher as well. Look into impact of intervention on homework completion
