Social Studies Curriculum US/NYS history from Civil War to present. Despite the State’s decision to drop the NYS Assessment, students will continue to focus on the skills that have traditionally been deemed important. This will include analyzing historical documents and writing document based essays (DBQ’s).

ELA Curriculum Exploration of Literature & Literary Elements Literary Analysis Expository Writing Poetry Vocabulary NYS Assessment preparation

Science 8 Curriculum Homework is on the chalk board and verbally administered to the students. Topics covered: Chemistry, Electricity/Magnetism, Solar System, Weather/Climate, and Earth Science. We will be preparing for a two part NYS Science Assessment (written and lab practicum) throughout the year.

Living Environment Curriculum Homework is posted daily on the board and given verbally. Topics Covered: What is Science, Cells, Reproduction/Development, Human Physiology, Genetics, Evolution, Ecology, and Human Impact. There is a Living Environment Regents Exam in June, where a component is from NYS Labs completed in Lab Class (Part D). Along with 8 th Grade Science Assessment.
