3 Chinese 1 st quarter: Focus on word level. Review basic characters 2 nd – 4 th quarter: around 100 Chinese spelling words Reading: daily for fluency & comprehension *memory Writing: Chinese Journal, linked to Social Studies and Science Tests: writing basic words for the unit.

7 Homework Chinese: 1 writing practice Will be sentence writing afterward Mondays and Tuesdays: practice and memorize required Chinese characters for Wednesday’s Chinese test Math: Work sheets and 2 word problems.

8 Behavior My classroom Expectations: Respect yourself and others, Follow direction and instruction. Work quietly in the classroom. Raise hand to speak or leave seat.

9 Behavior chart Four colors system Blue: Outstanding behavior. Students who get 5 blue will be rewarded. Green: Ready to learn. At expected level. Students who stay on green for 2 weeks will be rewarded. Yellow: Ignoring warning. Recess reduced by 5 minutes. (After 2 verbal warning!) Red: Continuous misbehavior, resistant and uncommunicative. (Parents will get a note. )

10 Behavior Policy Start the day in the green part “Ready to learn” The students are rewarded for making good choices. They have the opportunity to change the color to blue. Negative choices move them down to yellow. Even if a child gets yellow, she/he has the opportunity to move back up.

11 Treasure box and room coupons If students get 5 blue or stay on green 2 weeks, they will get to go to the class treasure box on Friday. Classroom coupon: will start 2 nd quarter. Students will use classroom money to buy a special coupon from my classroom coupons.

12 My goal is to inspire students to make positive choices Students will learn from their experiences whether they are good or bad. They are still good children and we know tomorrow will be an even better day. We are excited to grow together as a family!
