Prescription medication must be in the original container with the person’s name on it. Bring “extra” prescription medication (3 days supply) in the event of travel-prohibitive weather conditions. Know your PPE requirements. Bring what you need for your job (tools/materials). Packing for Offshore Living 4

Site-specific Orientation Take note of the following during site-specific orientation: Personnel on board lists or station bills Location of emergency equipment and muster stations Alarm and notifications systems Emergency exits and evacuation routes 7

Site-specific Orientation Take note of the following during site- specific orientation: Security desk and call in numbers Medical clinic and aid station locations Some medical personnel may be authorized to prescribe emergency medication and provide over-the- counter medications for illness. 8

Day and night sleepers Use of shared areas Personal hygiene protects everyone from the spread of illness. Use hand washing stations. Wear slippers to avoid athlete’s foot. Report to the clinic when sick, not to work. 11

The offshore work environment has the potential to contain almost all hazards found at facilities on land such as fires, falls, and confined spaces. Other hazards not commonly encountered on land are drowning, hypothermia, transfer accidents, watercraft collisions, cranes, and rigging. Potential Offshore Hazards 13

© North Slope Training Cooperative—revised 2012. All rights reserved. Man Overboard Keep the person in sight. Throw ring buoy to the person. Sound the alarm and notify the Control Room. Know your location’s specific procedures. Never enter the water to attempt a rescue. 17

Know where escape pods and lifeboats are located. Stay with a group. Conserve energy and body heat. Await assistance. 18
