2  Non-profit association created in 2001 in Valencia (Spain)  Composed of the 7 universities of the Valencian Region  Executive Committee: Pro-Vice-Chancellors for R&D  General Assembly: universities, sponsors, honorary members  Income: universities, sponsors, public subsidies, delivery of services  Human resources: 3 permanent employees, 1 president  Aims: encourage scientific cooperation between universities in R&D represent universities’ interests among stakeholders and policy-makers promote the transfer of knowledge to society Who are we?

3  Created in 2007, launched by the National Foundation for S&T Science communication: reporting of the University R&D results General dissemination of scientific knowledge to citizenship Training, counseling and education Scientific Culture Unit

6  Teacher guide: A look at science Teachers’ competition Teachers’ Training Centres (GVA) Age group: adaptable (14 to 17) Sent to 700 schools in 2011 3000€ aprox. (prize, design, copies, distribution) Reusable To be included on new website School activities: guide

7 School activities: prizes  Exhibition: How do you see science? Selection of 90 photos - 1st edition 2010, updated with best new entries Public recognition of winners and their teachers 1 person coordinates the activity with centre and sets up the exhibition

8 School activities: prizes  Exhibition: How do you see science? Whole school benefits: teachers, students and parents Teachers organise visits and side activities tailored to each age group Science surrounds us: different points of view (adults, students, scientists)

9 School activities: prizes  Entertaining science activity for the class (20 to 40 students, 2 hours) Teacher chooses one from our catalogue: robotics, neuroscience… Speakers are University lecturers: 100€ + travel expenses 1 person coordinates the activity

10  1500€ to print photos (2010-2012) and 1 person to coordinate  Funds: RUVID and universities. Others show interest but no budget  Exhibited in 9 venues in the Valencian Region during 1 to 2 months  Over 6000 visitors of all ages + permanent on-line gallery Photography exhibition
