Evolution of the market situation in Belgium (balance offer – demand, quality aspects,…) Annual report Belgium june 2011 ● The cullet stocks from 2010 are barely covering the high demand of 2011. ● So far cullet is first bought based on quality rather then only on price. ● The heat resistant aspect is no issue any longer !!!! ● The heavy metal aspect is focused on !!!!!

4. Export/import issues (positive/negative experiences with the local /foreign authorities) ● Export/import are not an issue because we mostly keep on using all necessary waste shipment documents. We soon hope to get the EOW status in order to get out of this gray zone. Annual report Belgium june 2011

Transposition of the WFD (Waste Framework Directive) in your country, and local EOW approach ● Our national waste departments share the FERVER position on EOW for Furnace Ready Cullet, but when it comes to actual official conflicts they still follow the actual situation under the definition of waste. General relation with the authorities (initiatives promoting your recycling activities) ● Our relation with the authorities is good, but at the different round tables, the weight of our sector is not as heavy as the one of automotive or metal recyclers or construction industry. Hard to realize that car glass of ELV’s is removed before schredering Hard to realize that the construction industry removes the glass from the frames The economical aspects seem to get preference before the ecological aspects. Without support from the authorities creating legislation that encourages ecological friendly solutions, we will not increase the recycling volumes of glass from ELV’s and construction..
