A dog was crossing a bridge with a piece of meat in his mouth--- he saw his own shadow in the water below--- he thought it was another dog with meat in his mouth--- he jumped in the water to snatch the meat--- he was washed away by the water
Greedy dog
One day, a dog stole a piece of meat from a meat shop in the market place. He wanted to take it home. He was crossing a river by bridge. When the dog was in the middle of the bridge, he noticed his own shadow in the water below.
But he thought that it was another dog that was carrying in his mouth another piece of meat. The greedy dog wanted to grab that piece of meat also. So he jumped into the water in great excitement. He was carried away by the strong current of the river.
Moral: Greed brings about disaster.

3. One cold winter--- lion was sleeping---the mouse began to jump on the lion---the lion woke--- began to crush it---the mouse begged---the lion let the mouse go---the hunter caught the lion in the net---the lion tried hard---could not break the net---he began to lament---mouse heard and came---cut the net--- lion thanked
One cold winter a lion was lying asleep in the sun. A mouse came out of its hole and began to jump over the body of the sleeping lion. This woke up the lion.
He caught the small creature and was going to crush it under his heavy paw. The mouse begged pardon and requested the lion to let it go. It also said that it might be of any help to him in future.
The lion simply laughed. He could not imagine that it could be of any help to him. He however, was moved to pity and let it go.
Shortly afterwards, the lion was caught in the net laid by the hunter in the forest. He tried his best to free himself from the net but all his efforts remained fruitless. So he began to lament.
When the mouse heard his lamentation, it came out with its young ones. They sat to work and it did not take them long to nibble at the ropes and cut them with their sharp teeth.
The lion became free and thanked the mouse for its timely help. Now he realized that even a small creature could be of help to the stronger and bigger animals.
Moral:
Kindness never goes unrewarded.

4. A hungry fox---saw bunch of grapes---his mouth watered---jumped to catch the bunch---the tree was high---tired of jumping---efforts in vain---consoled himself---the grapes are sour
Once a hungry fox went about in search of food and reached a vineyard. He stopped near one of the trees that bore beautiful ripe grapes which were hang­ing in bunches. His mouth watered. He thought that he would eat the ripe grapes to satisfy his hunger.
So he tried to catch hold of the grapes. He jumped as high as possible to hold at least one of the bunches which was not so high. But still it was beyond his reach. When his repeated efforts failed to get even a single grape, he was upset.
So he consoled himself by thinking that these grapes must be sour, which he should not taste. And it is better to leave the vineyard and look for food somewhere else. So the fox went away.

5. A woodcutter---cut trees in the wood---cutting wood in the bank of the river---axe fell in the river---river was deep---began to week---Mercury, god of water---woodcutter told the story---Mercury divided the river---gave golden axe---woodcutter refused---Mercury gave silver axe---woodcutter refused---Mercury gave iron axe---woodcutter took it gladly---Mercure rewarded the gold and silver axe
Once there lived a poor woodcutter. He used to cut trees in the woods. One day he was cutting wood on the bank of a river. His axe fell down into the river. The river was deep. He could not take his axe out. He sat on the bank and began to weep.
Mercury, the god of water appeared. He asked the reason of his weeping. The woodcutter told the whole story. Mercury dived into the water and brought a golden axe. The woodcutter refused to take it. Mercury again dived and brought a silver axe. The woodcutter did not take it either. Then he brought an iron axe. The woodcutter took it gladly. Mercury was much pleased. He rewarded the woodcutter with the other two axes.
Moral: Honesty is the best policy.
