Welcome! The purpose of Open House is to have an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and hear about the curriculum and expectations for each course.

All About Me I am a native of Naples, FL. I have been teaching for 15 years and this is my first year in middle school. I received my Bachelor Science degree in Elementary Education from Bethune- Cookman University and my Masters of Education from George Mason University. I received my Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at Berry College. I am current working towards my Doctorate in Teacher Leadership at Kennesaw State University. I’ve been teaching for 15 years. My hobbies consist of watching movies, baking, and cooking. I enjoy spectating sports! My favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys!

What will they learn? Most are capable enough as readers and writers. They have also learned to use spoken language successfully. They use writing for a variety of purposes They can also use spoken language effectively in a variety of settings -- in discussions, oral reports, plays and explanations.

Reading Main task in grade six is to keep children reading. Making extensive use of school library. Referring the children to new books. Talking about books. Reading to the children from increasingly complex works. Students will read many different genres organized around different themes. Poetry Short stories Novels Plays

Writing Writing is closely related to reading! Students will write: Journals short answers essays and various projects. They will define good writing and to identify the strengths and weaknesses in their own writing and that of others. They will utilize basic punctuation and grammar conventions.

Speaking The oral aspects of languages -- especially effective speaking -- are always important. Students are given many opportunities to speak in a variety of contexts: Telling and retelling stories Participating in focused discussions about particular topics Sharing information with other children Reading published works (essays, poems, project presentations.).
